OUR STORY, A Family Fighting Together
Life has a way of testing love, strength, and hope in ways we never imagined. As a family, we've faced more than we ever thought we could—but we continue to stand, side by side, holding on to each other, and holding on to faith. We created this space not just to tell Zach's story, but to open a window into our family's journey—one filled with heartbreak, resilience, and an unbreakable bond. Here, you'll find our raw moments and real updates: the good days, the hard days, and the small victories that keep us going. This isn't just a story about illness. It's about a family fighting to stay together. It's about a brave little boy, a devoted mother still battling her own fight, a father keeping everyone steady, and three incredible siblings who are loving, waiting, and cheering from home. Through words, photos, and reflections, we invite you to walk this road with us. To hope with us. To witness Zach's strength. And to help us keep believing in brighter days ahead.
In January 2024, our family's world shifted forever. Patrice was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), and after a long and courageous fight through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, she continues to receive treatment to keep her illness at bay. Through those months, our four children were our strength—and our youngest, Tillie, was just a baby when this all began.
Then, our beautiful boy Zach—just four years old—grew unwell. Fatigue turned into tests. Tests turned into answers we never expected. Zach has been diagnosed with high-risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare blood disorder that progresses to AML. His only hope is a bone marrow transplant, one that can't be done in Ireland.
So now, we find ourselves here—on the way to the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht, Netherlands—hoping, praying, and staying strong for Zach.
This blog is a place for family, friends, and kind strangers who've walked beside us from afar. We'll be sharing updates, photos, moments of progress, and everything in between as we walk this path with Zach. Every message, every visit, and every thought sent our way helps us feel just a little more held.
Thank you for being here with us.
Thank you for seeing Zach, through our eyes.
